The 2011 EPA Pesticide General Permit (PGP) covers discharges of biological pesticides, and chemical pesticides that leave a residue, in areas where EPA is the NPDES permitting authority, for the following four pesticide use patterns:
- Mosquito and other flying insect pest control
- Weed and algae control
- Animal pest control
- Forest canopy pest control
Certain decision makers, as identified in Table 1-1 of the PGP, must submit a Notice of Intent (NOI) to receive permit coverage. EPA's PGP requires a waiting period from the time an NOI is posted on this webpage (i.e., as specified in the PGP, "when EPA posts on the Internet receipt of a complete and accurate NOI") until coverage under the permit begins. The waiting periods are as follows:
- For discharges to waters of the United States without National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Listed Resources of Concern - 10-day waiting period from the date NOI receipt is posted on this page.
- For discharges to waters of the United States with NMFS Listed Resources of Concern - 30-day waiting period from the date NOI receipt is posted on this page.
NOIs may be reviewed by EPA and any interested parties at any time. EPA may delay authorization prior to a discharge being covered under the permit if the Agency determines, including based on information provided by other interested parties, that further review of Operator eligibility under the PGP is warranted.

Permit Information
Submitted to EPA - A complete NOI has been submitted to EPA and is in the waiting period pending authorization.
Active - A complete NOI has been received by EPA. The waiting period is over and Operator's discharges are authorized under the PGP beginning on the date indicated.
Submitted to EPA - On Hold - A complete NOI has been received by EPA; however, the NOI has been placed on hold by EPA for further review. Discharges identified in the NOI are not eligible for coverage until EPA resolves any outstanding issues.
Terminated - A Notice of Termination (NOT) has been submitted to EPA. This discharge is no longer authorized under EPA's PGP.
Expired - At midnight on October 31, 2016, EPA's 2011 PGP expired. All Active NOIs under the 2011 PGP expired on the effective date of the EPA's 2016 PGP.
