Additional Property Attributes

Site is the former City Police Station/Court House. Assessment Grant assisted Wyandotte in conducting a pre-demolition hazardous materials survey and additional assessment activities. Wyandotte plans to demolish the building to provide additional medical offices in close proximity to Henry Ford Hospital, which is the largest employer in Wyandotte. Ten permanent and 20 temporary jobs are anticipated based on the proposed redevelopment activities.

Former Use: The site was unimproved land from at least 1937 to the late 1950s. The western portion of the site has been occupied by a City of Wyandotte police station/courthouse building and associated parking areas since the late 1950s. The northern part of the eastern portion of the site was occupied by a City of Wyandotte dog pound from at least the mid-1960s to the early 2000s. This area also included a portion of a recycling center from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s. The southern part of the eastern portion of the site was occupied a parking lot and access drives from the late 1950s to the early 2000s and has been vacant land since the late 2000s. The building was vacated due to the construction of a new precinct building.
