Additional Property Attributes

The City of Taylor is using the sub-grant to assist in the remediation of the property to allow for the occupancy by a RV/boat storage facility. The occupancy of the property by a RV/boat storage facility has been determined to be the best suitable development based on current site conditions. The City of Taylor is currently closing out an approximately 900,000 MDNRE Site Reclamation Grant that was awarded to the City of Taylor in 2000 and has been utilized to delineate and monitor the extent of methane that has migrated onto adjoining properties. The property has consisted of unused vacant land since the 1960s. Due to the nature of the contamination at the property, the property has not been suitable for various proposed development activities. Remediation and redevelopment of the property will spark future redevelopment of the area.

Former Use: The subject property was first developed in at least the 1930s, when clay mining activities took place. The clay mining activities ceased in the 1940s. In January 1951, the subject property was sold to Prieskorn-Nunn Contracting Corporation and was granted dumping as provided by law or otherwise fill pit and extensions for five years. The subject property operated as an unregulated landfill from the 1950s until the early 1960s. In the late 1990s, the subject property was obtained by the City of Taylor through tax reversion. In approximately 2000, Trolley Central Industrial Park, LLC purchased the subject property and entered into an agreement with the City of Taylor to redevelop the property with the construction of a multi-use industrial park and vehicle/trailer staging area. In May 2000, the MDEQ approved the appropriation of funds under the Site Reclamation Program to promote economic development and reuse of the subject property. In 2002, the proposed redevelopment of the subject property fell behind schedule and in November 2002, the City of Taylor once again obtained the subject property through tax reversion. The subject property has remained vacant undeveloped land.
