Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The site was initially developed in the mid 1800s as the S. Grant and Co., Coal and Lumber Company. Following a fire in the late 1800s which destroyed the facility, the site was redeveloped by as the Newell Coal and Lumber yard. A second fire in the 1930s destroyed much of the Newell facility. Following the second fire, the site continued to be used as a coal and lumber yard until the mid 1970s, when the site was purchased by the Pawtucket Redevelopment Assoc. and all buildings were razed. The site remained vacant until the early 2000s, when roadways were constructed at the site and it became used for access to the abutting Seekonk River.
