Additional Property Attributes

US EPA Assessment Grant funding was used to conduct Phase I and II ESAs at the site, as well as an asbestos/hazardous materials survey of the vacant, deteriorating site building. Detected petroleum impacts were less than Part 201 residential criteria. Lead was detected in near surface soil in the southern part of the site above applicable criteria. After demolition of the site building, the City plans to remove near surface lead-impacted soil and use the site as a public green space. It is anticipated that 4 temporary jobs will result from the planned site redeveolpment activities.

Former Use: The site was unimproved land from at least 1937 to 1941. The southern portion of the site south of Homestead Avenue is occupied by a building constructed in 1941 and first used as an auto repair garage, with subsequent additions constructed in the 1950s. The site building was occupied by an auto repair/paint garage from 1941 until the late 1980s. A construction contractor Kessey Construction also occupied the site building from the early 1960s until approximately 2005. Since approximately 2005, the site building has been vacant. The northern portion of the site north of Homestead Avenue has been vacant of buildings since at least 1937 and was utilized as a parking lot for the automobile repair shop.
