Additional Property Attributes

The two-three-story site buildings are proposed to be renovated and used for commercial space first floors and loft apartments on the second and third floors. The buildings were under-utilized for the last 50 years and the US EPA Assessment Greant funding assisted in providing the asbestos, lead and hazardous materials surveys required for the planned renovation, as well as assessment for possible impacts due to a formerly adjoining dry cleaner. No significant subsurface impacts were identified. 25 Permanent and 30 temporary jobs are anticipated to result from the planned site redevelopment activities.

Former Use: The site parcels are currently occupied by three attached commercial buildings constructed in approximately 1860, and one garage structure located north of 124 West Michigan Avenue, beyond an alley. Occupants of the buildings have included a dry goods store, a clothing store, a furniture shop, clothing stores, a photo gallery, a furniture store, Tax Services, a hardware store, a tin shop, a lawyers office, a building maintenance contractor, a tailor shop, a computer store, and an accountants office. Two of the buildings have 2 stories and the third has 3 stories square footages currently unavailable. The northern portion of the site is occupied by a two-room storage garage.
