Additional Property Attributes

US EPA Assessment Grant funds were used to assess whether USTs remained on-site, whether impacts related to former/current USTs were present, as well as to conduct an asbestos survey of the former school building in anticipation of renovation activities by the new site owner. No significant soil/groundwater impacts were detected however, numerous asbestos-containing building materials were identified. It is anticipated that 50 permanent jobs will result from the proposed site redevelopment activities.

Former Use: The site is currently occupied by a former school building, currently occupied by Saline Area Schools administrative offices, and associated asphalt and concrete paved parking and landscaped areas. The site was occupied by a school house building, a residence, and associated out buildings from at least 1860 to at least 1899. The original school building was destroyed in a fire and the current site building was constructed in 1930. The site building was operated as a school from 1930 to the 1990s, was partially used as offices for a hospital in the early 1990s, and has been occupied by Saline Area Schools administrative offices since the 1990s. Exact building square footages are not currently available.
