Additional Property Attributes

A US EPA Assessment Grant was used to conduct a Phase I ESA and asbestos survey of this vacant strip mall, in anticipation of the City of Riverview acquiring the site and demolishing the building and pavements. The Phase I ESA identified an adjoining gasoline station as an REC and the City conducted a Phase II ESA without Grant funding. The Phase II ESA identified low levels of petroleum hydrocarbons, at concentrations less than applicable residential cleanup criteria. The City has subsequently purchased the site.

Former Use: The site was wooded land from at least 1937 to 1966. The site has been occupied by a shopping center with parking areas located east of the site building since 1967. A service driveway is located west of the site building. The occupants of the shopping center have included a grocery store, restaurants, and various retail stores. Based on a review of available historical information, there is no indication that a dry cleaner or any other tenant that uses significant quantities of hazardous substances or petroleum has occupied the site.
