Additional Property Attributes

Prior to foreclosure, the resident/owner illegally stored many vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motor homes, as well as various other mechanical equipment. This high-visibility site had been blighted for several years, often becoming overgrown with weeds and being a dumping ground for the resident. Re-use of this site would help catalyze further development adjacent to the I-94 interchange and enhance the appearance of the entryway to the City. This parcel may be bundled with adjacent parcels for larger commercial/industrial redevelopment including access to nearby parcels slated for economic development.

Former Use: The subject property was initially developed in 1850 with a residential dwelling and detached garage. According to interviews conducted at the fire and planning departments, city officials suspected unpermitted automobile repair was conducted on the eastern portion of the property, near Kramer Street from approximately 2004 until 2010. This dwelling was demolished in 2010 by City of Ypsilanti after ownership of the property was transferred to Washtenaw County through tax reversion.
