Additional Property Attributes

There is no evidence that the property was used for significant treatment, storage or disposal of hazardous waste, chemicalsor hazardous substances. Building components had lead and asbestos within acceptable limits. Only PAHs, heptaclor epoxide, dieldrin and chromium exceeded NYSDEC TAGM-4046 criteria.

Former Use: In 1910 site belonged to Niagara Falls Hydraulic Power and Manufacturing Co. Union Carbide owned it for 49 years until it sold the property to Niagara Vest in 1986. The City acquired it in 1992 for back taxes and sold it to Standard Ceramics. Nicolas Dalacu purchased the site in 2002 for use as a science museum. The City of Niagara Falls acquired the vacant site in 2015 with the intention of converting the property into a business park.
