The site has been occupied by a number of sawmills for more than 100 years. Every sawmill at the site has been destroyed by fires. Petroleum was, and is, stored in aboveground storage tanks. Past activities included dipping timber in a fungicide and burial of fire/demolition debris as well as placement of fill of questionable environmental quality.
