Additional Property Attributes

The original portion of the two-story site building was constructed prior to 1870 for use as offices. Primary occupants of the site building have included a bank from at least 1890 to approximately 1981 and City of Wyandotte Municipal Services since that time. The site building is currently used for municipal services, a municipal cable television studio, an insurance agency, a geothermal utility office, and has vacant office space, with some remnants of bank vaults.

Former Use: The site is approximately 0.22-acre in area includes a two-story commercial building, the City of Wyandotte�s Municipal Services building. Eureka Iron and Steel Works Company, Eureka, constructed the original portion of the site building for use as administrative offices prior to 1870. Eureka operated a foundry to the east and south of the site from approximately 1854 to 1892. Primary owner/occupants of the site building have included a bank from at least 1890 to approximately 1981 and the City of Wyandotte Municipal Services since then. A coal shed was located on the southeastern portion of the site from at least 1890 to 1900, and a scale shed was located east of the site building from 1895 to 1900. Building additions were added to the east side of the original site building in the 1920s and the 1950s. By 1954, the site building occupied virtually the entire site. The site building is currently used for municipal services, a municipal cable television studio, an insurance agency, a geothermal utility office, and has vacant office space including remnants of bank vaults. Other occupants of the site building have included: a Masonic hall, insurance agents, doctors, attorneys, CPAs, architects, US Army recruiting offices, and a jeweler.
