Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Property was originally utilized as naturopathic water cure bath house in 1852. The site has been occupied by Custom Laundry & Linen Supply since at least 1925. Tetrachloroethylene, also known under the systematic name of Perchloroethylene (or 'Perc') was used at the site for the dry cleaning process. According to the site owner, Custom Laundry did not offer dry cleaning services until 2005, at which point a single dry cleaning machine with secondary containment was purchased. Based on hazardous waste manifests maintained on governmental databases, the use of tetrachloroethylene may have been used at the site since 1996. The site was in continuous operation until 2010 and has been vacant since that time. Asbestos testing was performed in 2013 and asbestos containing materials were found in the floor tiles of the building. The site is currently vacant, with the exception of several stored motorcycles and motor vehicles on the first floor. A 55-gallon plastic drum with no cover was located in the garage area filled with storm water as storm water frequently leaks through the roof. One 10,000-gallon AST which stored heating oil was historically located on the site. The tank was originally designed to be an UST but was located above ground on the north side of the building on a steel cradle; this cradle is still present on the site. This tank was installed in 1968, when the coal fired boiler was discontinued, and then removed in 2011 when operations at the site were discontinued. No staining or stressed vegetation was observed in the vicinity of the former tank area. The site utilizes municipal water and sanitary waste water utilities. A water supply well was dug on the property in 1988 to supplement process water for the laundry cleaning operations. This well is reportedly several hundred feet deep and is located inside the building's addition which was added in 1995.
