Additional Property Attributes

This property belonged to the Vassallo family. In the late 1800s Salvador Vassallo Sr. emigrated from Italy to Ponce and established on the site a metallic shop called Puerto Rico Metallic Work. As per information provided by property contact from the Vassallo family owners, the former operations included an above ground storage tank (AST) that was used to fuel up commercial vehicles belonging to Puerto Rico Metallic Work Company. No details were provided about the specific volume and type of fuel stored in the AST. The present site structure was constructed in the 1930. The main structure is a two story building that at present is abandoned. The first floor was dedicated to storage and an exhibition area. The second floor was for residential use as is said in the property title search. Based on the owner interview, an adjoining parcel belonging to the original property was used as the former location of a windows manufacturing plant. This activity was conducted south of the main building.

Former Use: Former Vassallo Factory with suspision of asbesto and lead.
