Additional Property Attributes

The Nornay Building property is owned by the Town of Barre. The Phoenix Plaza Corporation purchased the property in 1988 and donated the land to the town in 2005. The goal of the town are to maintain this property as an open space, including use as a park with added features that may include benches and dedicated monuments.

Former Use: The property operated as a woolen mill and was part of the Barre Wool property directly acros Main Street. The Barre Wool Combing Company (BWCC) began operations in the 1900s. Woolen mill operations, including wool combing, drying and finishing continued until 1979 when operations at the property terminated, and the property remained vacant until demolition in 2004.
