Additional Property Attributes

The property is owned by Free Cycles, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving bicycling opportunities in the community. Other commercial ventures rent space on site.

Former Use: This property sits in the heart of Missoula adjacent to the Bitterroot Spur on the south side of the Clark Fork River. This property was previously owned by Missoula Gas Company, Montana-Dakota Utilities Company, and Montana Power Company, and was the site of a manufactured gas plant (i.d., coal-gasification plant) from 1909 to 1957. In more recent years the property has hosted a variety of commercial and light industrial uses. A Phase I completed in 2016 collated information from previous soil and groundwater testing which found contaminants, and recommended a Phase II for the property.
