Additional Property Attributes

To fully characterize the site, two 2,5000 gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) were excavated and removed from the property. Once the USTs were removed from the ground two soil samples were collected from beneath the UST and one from the down-gradient wall of the excavation for each tank. Additionally, one groundwater sample was collected. Naphthalene, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)-Gasoline Range Organics (GRO), lead, benzene and ethylbenzene concentrations in the soil samples exceeded 2006 Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action (MRBCA) Default Target Levels (DTLs). Groundwater samples contained concentrations of benzene, ethylbenzene, naphthalene, and TPH-Diesel Range Organics (DRO) that exceeded DTLs.

Former Use: The 0.2 acre site is owned by the Land Reutilization Authority (LRA) of the City of Saint Louis and is located on the south side of the intersection of North Sarah Street and North Market. From 1939 to 1960 the site operated as a gas station. Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) are shown on a 1951 Sanborn Map and are likely still in place. Currently, there are three (3) vacant buildings (a garage, store front, and storage) at the site. The LRA plans to develop the site as commercial property.
