Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site is one 4.5-acre parcel (Map 107, Lot 3) southwest of Jericho Road. Access to the site is available from Jericho Road. The northern end of the Site is improved with a gravel parking and storage area and an approximately 300-square-foot timber d barn. The remaining majority of the Site is undeveloped woodland. The date of the first development of the Site could not be determined from the historical sources reviewed during this Phase I ESA, however the northern end of the Site was in use by 1960. According to historical aerial photographs, the existing timber-d barn occupied the Site since at least 1986, possible by 1960. The Site operated as an auxiliary parcel to the Isaacson Steel operations that primarily took place across the street at 40 Jericho Road, and operations began presumably when Isaacson Steel obtained the property in approximately 1989. Isaacson Steel used the Site as a storage lot for trailers and skids of fabricated steel; Isaacson Steel was historically a large quantity generator of hazardous waste and there is potential for hazardous waste to have been stored at the Site. After Isaacson Steel ceased operations in 2012, the Site was bought by current owner Paul Croteau Jr. The Site has since been used for storage of salvaged vehicles and miscellaneous junk. The City of Berlin acquired the site in 2022 as part of a settlement agreement.
