Additional Property Attributes

The 3.74 acre Site consists of one (1) vacant, grassed parcel of land identified by the Fulton County tax assessor as 149.13-2-9. * The Site is currently owned by the City of Gloversville. Cayadutta Creek bisects the central portion of the Site and runs north-south. A wooden bridge connects the portions of the property split by the creek. Access to the Site is via Hill Street to the south. According to historical reports, the Site was utilized since the early 1900s to the 1990s as a leather tannery under various names. The tanning and finishing of hides involved processes which utilized select chemicals and petroleum products and generated various solid and liquid waste streams. In the mid-1990s, Independent Leather shut down operations. Numerous animal hides, supplies, equipment, and numerous containers and tanks of various chemicals were scattered and abandoned throughout the facility.
