Additional Property Attributes

The area designated for proposed construction of recreational facilities consists of a former gravel pit that is filled with material from an unknown source. The sample locations were chosen to represent a cross section of the area south of the former municipal landfill of which the city has indicated interest for developing. Observations during the sampling event indicated tire and trash debris is present at each sample location. An initial planning meeting with the City of Newcastle indicated there are plans to consutruct a building on the southwest corner of the lot. Substantial amounts of tire and trash debris were found in the area. The area may be unstable for building foundations. Additional geotechincal investigations should be consducted prior to any construction. Soil gas is present at the site in varying concentrations. It is suggestied that prior to construction of any enclosed building or slab, prevention measures should be taken to prevent possible gas buildup or migration to receptors. A health and safety plan should be prepared prior to any construction activities to address unknown conditions present in the subsurface. (PPF - 09/18/2006)
