Property Highlights

A gas and service station operated from approximately 1928 to 1996. A 1,000-gallon, 5,000-gallon, and two 10,000-gallon USTs were removed in 2001.Contaminated soil was removed during USTs removal but not all contaminated soil was removed from the excavation.

Former Use: Roby's Services of Buena is located west of Buena Road, approximately 300 feet south of Buena Labor Camp. A gas and service station operated from approximately 1928 to 1996. A 1,000-gallon, 5,000-gallon, and two 10,000-gallon USTs were removed in 2001.Contaminated soil was removed during USTs removal but not all contaminated soil was removed from the excavation. In 1996, the Department of Ecology installed a series of 12 ground water monitoring wells around Buena. Soil and/or groundwater was found to be impacted by multiple petroleum-related contaminats in all but three wells. Sampling conducted again in 2001 and 2008confirmed gasoline, diesel and lead in ground water at concentrations above state cleanup levels.
