The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the property in Kansas City, Kansas. Based on the information collected during the Phase I report, "Recognized Environmental Conditions" were identified as significant potential for contamination due to five onsite 55-gallon drums including one open and spilled drum. RECs were also identified on adjoining properties, including; a spill of 45 gallons of transformer oil 500 ft west and upgradient, an upgradient leaking underground storage tank, and adjoining historic janitorial and printing operations at 5121 Parallel Parkway. Due to the identified RECs, KDHE recommended a Phase II environmental assessment.

Business Environmental Risks (BERs) were found during a NESHAP Limited Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) Survey. Based on the information collected during the survey, asbestos containing materials (ACMs) and LBP were identified.

KDHE completed a Phase II BTA at the property in June 2022.

Based on the soil data obtained during the Phase II BTA activities, contamination was not detected in soil concentrations above the respective residential soil and soil to groundwater Risk Based Standard (RSK) for Kansas. Investigative results indicate further investigation was not necessary through the Brownfields Program and the property was cleared for redevelopment.
