Additional Property Attributes

This site is centrally located within Cameron, along with several others in the immediate area that have long been on a list of blighted properties that the City desired to raze. As of the 2010 census, Cameron WV only had 542 housing units for a population of 946 people, which indicated that the city did not have enough livable housing to support any increase in the population or to house young families that grew up in the city - as young people desired to purchase houses of their own they would have to seek safe and functional housing outside of Cameron. These sites are ideal locations for redevelopment once the remains of the buildings are removed, and the current condition of the structures impacts community welfare, outlook, property values, and safety. Once the dangerous and dilapidated structure and its associated liability is removed, the site will be more attractive to prospective purchasers and redevelopment. The project will immediately improve the overall property values in Cameron and will enhance beautification of the area for residents.

The City plans to use Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) funds to demolish the structure and clear the property for reuse.
