Additional Property Attributes

The property was adequately characterized to allow for remediation planning. The Chrome Engineering building was cleaned by removing contents (including regulated materials). Then building was demolished. The property is currently vacant with only a concrete slab from the building remaining. The property is secured with fencing and concrete barriers. (PPF - 10/20/06)

Former Use: The property consists of an approximately 1.4-acres lot. The property was mostly undeveloped with several residential dwellings until 1962 when the Pacelli Brothers purchased the property. Various trucking entities operated there until 1998 when the property was vacated. Operations on the property included receiving and distribution of produce and other items, and vehicle service. Environmental concerns on the property are contaminants related to fill materials placed on portions of the property during the 1930s and petroleum contamination related to underground storage tanks on the northern and southern portions of the property. The building on the property was demolished in 2004. The property is currently owned by the city and is zoned for light industrial uses. PPF-10/20/06 Grant-funded cleanup activities are complete, but some contamination still remains. There are no current redevelopment plans for the property.
