Additional Property Attributes

The site has two buildings. The entire east wing building has been cleaned up. The exterior soils except for a small area adjacent to the southeast corner of the west wing building have been cleaned up. The deep residiual contaminated soils adjacent to the SW corner of the west wing building have been temporarily capped and fenced. Cleanup of west wing and residual soils will be delayed until sufficient funding is secured.

Former Use: This site consists of a two story research and development building. The site was first developed between 1900 and 1905 when the Berlin Mills Company constructed the west wing of the building. The east wing was constructed in 1919. The building was used as a research and development laboratory/facility from approximately 1905 through 1985. Research and development work ceased in 1985 and the first floor of the east wing of the building was renovated to house a training facility for the mill. The building has been vacant since approximately 2000.
