Additional Property Attributes

Predominantly farmland leased to a local farmer with a mosaic of wetlands. Some wetland restoration underway for salmonid habitat. The northern part of the area is anticipated for tribal economic development as it is adjacent to the casino area and has good access to SR20. The southern portion of the area is planned to be a wetland mitigation area associated with wetland filling that may occur as the northern section is developed commercially.

Former Use: Swinomish reservation marsh and tidelands by Treaty of Pt. Elliot in 1855. Diked and drained in late 19th century. Sold as fee land ca. 1918 and farmed until present. Repurchased by Tribe and put into Tribal Trust approx 2003.
