Additional Property Attributes

The 888 Wooter Road redevelopment project has proceeded from a Phase I in July 2008 to completion of the Phase II, Risk Assessment and Remedial Planning in early 2009. A Clean Ohio Revitilization Fund grant application was submitted to the Ohio Department of Development ODOD for clean-up in January 2009. A clean up grant for 1.51M was awarded to the City of Barberton for the project in May 2009. The Property is located at 888 Wooster Road West, Barberton, Ohio, and consists of one parcel Parcel Number 01.15673 in Summit County. The property is approximately 1.95 acres in size. The 1.95-acre parcel was transferred from PPG in February 1998 to the Barberton Community Development Corporation BCDC, followed by Sutherland Golf Corporation June 1, 1998 and Forefront Properties, Ltd. April 11, 2005. Asbestos containing materials are present in the existing building. Shallow soils across the Property exceed applicable standards for arsenic and SVOCs in several locations. Soils in the central area of the Property, are contaminated with chlorinated VOCs above their Leach-based Soil Values that also are contributing to volatilization to indoor air issues. VOCs were detected in the groundwater sample collected from monitoring well NP-04A. COCs that exceed applicable standards in groundwater include benzene, PCE. TCE and vinyl chloride. TCE and PCE were detected in subslab vapor samples at concentrations that exceed Target Soil Gas Concentrations TSGCs U.S. EPA, 2002.

Former Use: The first known industrial or commercial use of the property was by Columbia Chemical Company later identified as PPG, Columbia Chemical Division for industrial purposes prior to 1904. PPG operated on the property until 1998. The chain-of-title information since 1998 is as follows: � Property title transferred to Forefront Properties, Ltd., from Sutherland Golf, Inc. aka Sutherland Golf Corporation, by Warranty Deed dated April 4, 2005, recorded April 11, 2005 as Instrument No. 55172120, Summit County Records. � Property title transferred to Sutherland Golf Corporation, from Barberton Community Development Corporation, by Limited Warranty Deed dated June 1, 1998, recorded July 7, 1998 as Instrument No. 54162514, Summit County Records. � Property title transferred to Barberton Community Development Corporation, from PPG Industries, LLC, by Limited Warranty Deed dated February 10, 1998, recorded April 9, 1998 as Instrument No. 54125639, Summit County Records.
