Property Highlights

The City of Covington received a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency USEPA Brownfields Hazardous Substances Assessment Grant Number BF-95406108. The focus of this project is the building and property at 114 West Pike Street, Covington, Kentucky. This property has been a paint manufacturing facility and a restaurant in its past uses.

Former Use: The building housed a paint manufacturing facility from the early 1900s until the mid 1960s. City directories dated 1931, 1941, 1948, 1954, 1959, and 1964 list Boehmer Paint Company and KY Paint Works only in 1931. Apparently 114 West Pike Street was vacant from at least 1969 to 1989. In the 1999 and 2002 City directories, Tanino�s Restaurant is listed. The 2007 City directory does not have a listing for 114 West Pike Street. Fire Insurance Maps show a paint manufacturer in 1886, paint manufacturer and furniture store in 1894, a paint manufacturer in 1909, 1949, 1954, 1963, and 1980.
