Additional Property Attributes

Delta County is the current owner of the subject property and acquired the property in the 1920's. The manager of the subject property is the Upper Peninsual State Fair Authority which leases the proerty from Delta County. It is currently used for a wide variety of public and private events, including the annual UP State Fair.

Former Use: The site has hosted the Upper Peninsula State Fair and various community and regional events since 1928. It is currently used for the same purpose. The subject property was conveyed to Delta County in two separate conveyances. The first conveyance occurred in 1915 and involved 38.15 acres. The second conveyance occurred in 1925 and involved 16.72 acres. The 1915 conveyance was from the Lumbermen's Investment Co., et. al. and the 1925 conveyance was from Stanley Matthews. The U.P. State Fair, a State of Michigan funded event, has been held on this property and adjacent State of Michigan land since 1928. The State of Michigan has eliminated funding for the U.P. State Fair, with 2009 being the last event. This property will be leased to the U.P. State Fair Authority,which is comprised of several governmental units, beginning on approximately October 1, 2009.
