In accordance with land use restrictions, the Lake Conestee Dam must be maintained, and possibly rehabilitated or replaced, to effectively contain contaminants in sediment within Lake Conestee and to protect downstream water resources. The BF RLF subgrant funding was used to complete interim repairs to the dam, and to evaluate alternatives for long-term maintenance of the dam. The existing dam was constructed in approximately 1892 and modified several times since. The interim repairs to the dam performed with the BF RLF subgrant were completed on August 17, 2012, which is considered the "date engineering controls were put in place".
