Additional Property Attributes

The City of Zanesville is currently pursuing assessment money through the Ohio Department of Development via Clean Ohio. The scope of this request is narrowly focused on the assessment of potential impacts from the property to the adjacent Muskingum River.

Former Use: Historical research and agency records suggest the Property was developed for commercial/industrial purposes by 1904. The Property has been corporately owned over time, with the Property being vacant from 2003 to the present. From 1904, the Zanesville Malleable Company owned and operated the Property for Industrial-molding/annealing until they closed in 1933. The City of Zanesville gained ownership of the Property when the Zanesville Malleable went bankrupt. The Property was then leased by the City to a shoe company until approximately 1944. From 1945 until 1990, the City of Zanesville leased the Property to National Battery Company, Gould-National Batteries, Inc, and GNB, Inc, respectfully. The Port Authority purchased the Property from the City in 1989. The Port Authority leased the Property to Bee Holding, Inc. from 1991 to 1995. The Property was purchased by Bee Holding, Inc. in 1996. In recent years, Bee Holding, Inc. leased the north end of the low bay to Grief Brothers Corrugated as warehouse space for a three year period. The Property is now a vacant industrial site.
