Additional Property Attributes

This parcel is the site of two (2) abandoned, brick 2-story buildings. The City of Ruthven sought to obtain the property, demolish the building, and clear the lot in order to build a new community center in 2010. However, concerns about environmental issues at the site, especially asbestos, hampered their plans. The City completed a Phase I, and Iowa 128(a) funds were used to conduct an asbestos inspection, and to complete asbestos removal at the site. The buildling has now been demolished, and the site regraded. Construction is anticipated in the spring of 2010 for a new community center.

Former Use: Building construction pre-1900. Former grocery store and general merchandise and professional use. Buildings used for storage of furniture and partially empty for last 10 years.
