Additional Property Attributes

This City block had a combination of former auto repair shops, a gas station, a dry cleaner, and misc. general retail buildings. The City conducted a Phase I, and based on the RECs noted, asked the DNR to conduct a Site Specific Assessment (Phase II). The IDNR used 128(a) funds to conduct a Phase II on the entire block. No contamination of any signficance was noted. During demolition, one former underground storage tank (UST) was discovered below a building foundation, but the likelikhood of the tank's existence had been noted in the Phase I. The UST did not have any noted release. The DNR has determined that the site does not pose any hazard to human health or the environment, and is suitable for reuse and redevelopment. The City plans to remarket the site to a local grocery store chain for a new store construction, in order to encourage the chain to locate a grocery retail store in the central city.
