Additional Property Attributes

The Recognized Environmental Condition is the following: Based on a former chemical company operating at the subject property as well as numerous abandoned drums of hazardous chemicals discovered after a fire, the potential exists for soil and/or groundwater contamination.

Former Use: From the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, the site was occupied by Bistate Chemical. Following a fire in June 2004, at least 25 abandoned 55-gallon drums of various hazardous chemicals were discovered in the building. During the historical review, evidence of one 1000-gallon UST installed in 1943 was identified on the subject property located within the loading area on the south side of the building. No documentation regarding removal of this tank was found. On 12/18/09, a backhoe was used to excavate test pits within the vicinity of the suspect UST. The UST was not located however, a small area of discolored soil was encountered. Levels of heavy metals and volatiles are below levels required for cleanup.
