Additional Property Attributes

The "Grugnale Waste Disposal Site" includes the subject 6.2-acre property as well as two adjacent parcels of land. EPA removal inspection and removal actions occurred on one of the site properties, but not the subject property. The site was historically used as a dumping site, including drums, tanks, demolition debirs, appliances, and stumps. Buried drums and other wastes have been uncovered on adjacent properties. The property was first developed in 1875 with a large residence, and a smaller residence developed in 1920 the property was first used as a farm. A gravel pit was excavated to the east of the subject property in the late 1950s or early 1960s. Documented dumping and burying of wastes has occurred on the adjacent and subject property, as well as documented soil, sediement, and groundwater contamination. Significant work in removing buried drums has occurred on adjacent parcels, but no accurate type, quantity, or location of wates has been determined on the subject property.

Former Use: The earliest record found for the subject property was a historic USGS Map dated 1906 that revewled that the property and surrounding area was primarily open field that was likely used for forming. The property was first developed in 1875 with a large residence, and a smaller residence developed in 1920 the property was first used as a farm. Subsequent uses of the property are not clear, however, the current owner's father is know to have operated a small junkyard and scrap metal yard. Based on regulatory information and anecdotal reports, the subject property and surrounding area were used as a dumpping site and drums and other wastes have been uncovered on the adjacent property to the east, beneath the unnamed dirt road, and from the gravel pit to the east. A small firewood business was slso run out of the property at one time by the current owner and his father. A gravel pit was excavated to the east of the subject property in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
