Additional Property Attributes

BTA was conducted for the City of Wichita in response to environmental uncertainties associated with the old railroad corridor. The corridor is one of several City corridors bing targeted for reuse as a walking/biking path. Recoginzied environmental conditions RECs associated with the BTA Property were identified as the following: the historical use as a railroad corridor and common contaminants associated with railroad corridors particularly PAH's, arsenic, and lead and three illegal and/or old city dumps located along the BTA corridor. Based on information collected during the Phase I, it appears that the All Appropriate Inquiry AAI was obtained with no significant data gaps. Based on Phase II activities, elevated levels of metals in the shallow subsurface are the primary threat to the redevelopment ives on the corridor. It is recommended that the City of Wichita be encouraged to apply to the Voluntary Cleanup Program to address the soil contamination on the property prior to redevelopment.
