Additional Property Attributes

The BTA was conducted for Norton City/County Economic Development to encourage redevelopment of a property formerly utilized as a gas station. The property is in a prime location along U.S. Highway 36, yet it has been vacant for approximately ten years due to the stigma associated with the former use as a gas station. Norton City/County Economic Development is working with private investors to redevelop this property and fill a gap in the local service industry. Recognized environmental conditions RECs associated with the BTA Property were identified as the following: hydrocarbon impacted soil identified onsite during a 1991 tank removal and hydrocarbon impacted groundwater associated with an upgradient former tank facility and onsite floor drains and a hydraulic lift associated with historic operations. Phase II found petroleum impacted groundwater originating from another site rather than from an onsite release. The offsite source is enrolled in KDHE LUST Trust Fund.

Former Use: Developed or used for commercial since the late 1950's including a service station, appliance repair shop and vehicle detail shop.
