Additional Property Attributes

The site investigation indicated the following potential sources of the contamination on the property: two aboveground storage tanks associated with the former tank farm approximately 70 5-gallon buckets stored inside the old power plant building suspected contents are motor oil three generators two inside the old power plant building and one outside in the brush several transformers at the Site and lead-acid batteries. The consultant estimates approximately 70 cubic yards of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil are present at the site.

Former Use: The former power plan building, which remains on the Site, is approximately 25 feet by 30 feet in size and was built in the late 1970s. The building was impacted by flooding in the spring of 2009 and the high water mark was approximately 2 feet above the floor of the building, which is elevated on pilings. The floor is heavily stained. Before the power plant was built, the Site was undeveloped and used for subsistence high bush cranberry picking in the fall. The Site has been unused since the new tank farm and power plant were built around 2000. The Site is owned by the City of Akiak.
