Additional Property Attributes

The entire 87.5 acre site was agricultural cropland and has been since at least the late 1930s. The adjacent properties have been used for meat packing, implement dealer and poultry confinement. The presence of nitrate in the groundwater appears to be attributed to wide-spread, non-point source, agronomic fertilization of crop land and possibly also waste water lagoons on adjacent property west and up-gradient of site. Dissolved nitrate data supplied by the Lower Platte North NRD report background nitrate concentrations in the Platte River aquifers near the site between 40 and 50 mg/L. This is consistant with the data from the on-site goundwater samples taken during the Phase II. In 2019, 17.23 acres of the site was sold to a private developer and now serves as a service station with a convenience market and restaurant. The remaining 70.27 acres is still undeveloped cropland.
