Property Highlights

The clean up and redevelopment of the Solar Paints was completed in Dec.2003. Three industrial owners now occupy the property employing 65 people. RACM has submitted paperworkto the EPA to close out this fund and revolve the TID repayments that are coming in. (PPF attached to Solar Paints and Vanishes 12/21/2006)

Former Use: The original manufacturer, Solar Paints, began operating on the site in 1956 until 1995 when they filed for bankruptcy. EPA conducted emergency removals in the late 1980s. Property remained tax delinquent and abandoned until 2002. Severe solvent contamination and offsite RR issues stopped all efforts to redevelop. In 2002, Ralos, LLC acquired the property from RACM. RACM paid for cleanup at the site using RLF funds, and redevelopment began. The site is currently developed with several manufacturing operations. The owner entered the site into the state's voluntary cleanup program and requested case closure in October 2011. The state requires additional sampling and vapor assessment to receive closure.
