Additional Property Attributes

The subject property consists of one parcel of land occupying 4.4 acres. The site is currently developed as a canoe launch for Maple Lake. The Village of Paw Paw acquired the site from Paw Paw Township. Paw Paw Township historicaly operated the site as a municipal dump in the 1960s. A sewage treatment plant occupied northern portions of the parcel until the early 1980s. The Village of Paw Paw is evaluating the potential redevelopment of the parcel with residential condominiums.

Former Use: The triangular shaped subject property was vacant land until approximately 1935 when the west end was developed with a sewage plant including at least one lagoon. The remaining portion remained vacant except for a road paralleling the shore of Maple Lake until approximately 1950 when a wetland near the center of the property was used as a dump by local residents. The dump was closed in the early 1960s, covered with soil, and turned into a park. The sewage plant remained until some time between 1974 and 1988 when Power Plant Rd. and the North Power Plant Rd. Bridge were constructed over most of the former sewage plant. The subject property is owned by the Village of Paw Paw. The Village of Paw Paw acquired the site from Paw Paw Township. Paw Paw Township owned/operated the former municipal dump on the site.
