Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: US Department of Agriculture map dated 1938 shows the railroad right-of-way including the project site with land to the north and south either undeveloped or in agricultural production. By 1954 this same source shows photos with a lumber mill south of the project site with log decks north and south of the site. By 1998 Department of Agriculture aerial photo shows the railroad tracks have been removed and a paved bike traill is located along the south boundary of the former railroad right-of-way. No structures are located on the site. The Montana Department of Transportation MDT acquired the project site in 2008 from the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad along with land to the east of the project site. The prior owner is listed as St. Paul M&M Railway Co., and Flathead County records indicate that the company obtained ownership of the project site in 1891.
