Additional Property Attributes

The site was used as a bulk fuel facility since the early 1960s with ASTs and USTs. It was owned by the Estate of Joesph Schafer which is bankrupt. Two regulated USTs were found on site in 2010 that had not been registered with the SCDHEC. The ASTs were removed several years ago. A NRP performed a Phase I ESA and some Phase II work in preparation of entering into a NRP VCC with the Dept. The SCDHEC installed 3 groundwater monitoring wells around the non-regulated AST system to facilitate the redevelopment and determine if free phase product LNAPL was present. LNAPL was not present. However, the NRP has decided to not acquire the property. 128A funds were used for the installation of the monitoring wells. Another party has subsequently acquired the property. The SCDHEC is corresponding with the new property owner concerning the regulatory issues for the regulated USTs and petroleum contamination associated with the AST system. The SCDHEC is not planning to use any additional Brownfield funds at the property.

Former Use: The property has been vacant for several years. The single story bldg on the property has been vandalized but appears to be structurally sound.
