Additional Property Attributes

Property is one of 3 parcels part of the former Allied Leather Tannery site. The 3 parcels, combined, are 3.64 /- acres. All three parcels are being marketed by a NH Commercial Real Estate broker. The City plans to sell off approximately 2.5 acres of the site for private redevelopment. The asking price is $4540,000. The balance of the property would be retained by the City for a public park along the Contoocook River. Former Use: This is the second of three lots which comprise the former Allied Leather Tannery Complex. The property was initially developed in 1846 as a textile facility which manufactured a variety of items, including sail cloth. The facility went bankrupt during the Great Depression and was purchase and converted into a leather tannery in 1941 by Brezner Tanning. In time, corporate ownership changes led to the property being owned by the Allied Leather Company. Tannery operations continued at the site until Allied's bankruptcy in 1987. The property remained vacant until 1997 when the property was acquired by a local resident under the auspices of several limited liability companies. In 2002, the City condemned the property. During August 2003 and June 2004, the City acquired the underlying properties which comprise this site.
