Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site consists of 12 city lots constituting the east half of Block 56 of the Kalispell Original Town Site. The half block Site has a total area of approximately 0.96 acres. The land is level throughout and includes one building the KM Building with a basement and two floors. The area of each floor is approximately 26,000 square feet. The building is used for a variety of professional offices and retail businesses. The portion of the Site immediately south of the building is a parking lot. The building on the site was constructed int he early 1890's with numerous renovations to the building. The building has always been used for commercial purposes with the building presently housing a variety of retail businesses and professional offices. Although all 12 lots were held in common from 1911 through 1940, and again from 1983 through the present, much of the property�s history involves multiple ownership. Kalispell Mercantile retained title to Lots 1 through 10 through 1972, when title passed to the KM Shopping Center. Lots 11 and 12 were sold to a Paul and Hazel Bowman in 1941, and then Valley Oil in 1953. By the early 1970s, ownership of Lots 1 through 10 was vested in the KM Shopping Center, and Lots 11 and 12 were associated with the KM Department Store presumably, there was some relationship between the two entities, but its exact nature is unknown. In 1983, all of the lots were consolidated and owned as part of the KM Building. Over the next 14 years, there were several conveyances of the property as a single parcel, as well as a number of financing statements showing that uses on the property included a fashion salon, sewing room, and a steakhouse. The property was acquired by the current owners, the Goodmans, in 1997.
