Additional Property Attributes

The property was first developed sometime before 1890 as the Mayer Arsenal Pottery Company. During the time period when the pottery company occupied the site, it contained multi-story masonry warehouses. Other early occupants of the site between 1908 and 1927 included the Edward Logan Machine Co. and John Davidson Weaving at the southern end; and Petry?s Express and Storage Co. at the northern end of the site. Pattern Machine and Foundry Co. operated at the site, specifically former lot 26 on the southern portion, from approximately 1937-1993. Circa 1945, the adjoining lot to the north, former lot 32, was used as a storage company and furniture company through 1972, when Pattern Machine bought this property. The brass foundry and associated furnaces were located in the southwestern portion of the building fronting Schenck Street. A gas-fired boiler was reported in the basement in 2002 prior to building demolition. The structures on the northern portion of the property were demolished between 1974 and 1976. The City took ownership in 1997. The former foundry and associated buildings on the southern portion of the site were demolished between December 2017 and February 2018. It is slated for redevelopment as housing. The property is surrounded by a majority of residential lots to the north and west, a playground to the south and light industrial to the east.
