Additional Property Attributes

On December 21, 2010, SLDC entered into a subagreement with Garden District Commission for an amount up to 40,000 for tank and contamination removal at the site (a former gas station). The Garden District Commission (GDC)(www.gardendistrictcommission.org) is a charitable neighborhood advocacy primarily for the Shaw, McRee Town, Tiffany, and Southwest Garden Neighborhoods. In May 2011, three underground storage tanks and tank piping were removed along with 4300 gallons of water and residual product and 200 cubic yards of contaminated soil. Based on the confirmation sampling results following tank closure and soil removal, residual soil and groundwater contamination exists onsite. Site characterization and risk assessment are recommended however cleanup is substantially complete and further monitoring is likely all that will be required. The subgrant amount was increased to 46000 due to monitoring costs. In 2012 the parcel was combined with an adjoining residential parcel and a Olio and Elaia wine bar and restaurant was opened late 2012 (www.oliostl.com also https://www.facebook.com/ElaiaOlio.)
