Additional Property Attributes

The redevelopment is for mixed use

Former Use: The site was occupied by the former Colt Firearms Complex from circa 1847 to 1990 for the manufacturing of firearms. The facilities primary manufacturing operations included the machining, surface treatment, assembly, and testing of weapons. The Colt Gateway project is part of the Coltville Historic District, a National Historic Landmark and an area designated for a National Park. The redevelopment site contains 19th century buildings totaling approximately 700,000 square feet in size. While four of the ten buildings have been renovated, approximately 310,000 square feet will be redeveloped for residential, commercial, office and retail uses. The EPA RLF funding is being provided in addition to the 4,500,000 that DECD has previously invested in the project for additional environmental remediation, construction of the boiler plant, rehabilitation of the Sawtooth Building, site-wide infrastructure improvements and improvements to the South and East Armory buildings.
