Former Use: 1. The subject property was occupied by various industrial operations from at least the late 1800s until 1999. Industrial occupants of the subject property included but were not limited to the W. F. Stewart Company Imperial Wheel Company Michigan Motor Casting, Co. Weston-Mott, Co. Standard Oil Company Oak Park Power, Co. Flint Axle Works Champion Ignition, Co. Detroit United Railways Commonwealth Power, Co. The Walker-Weiss Axle, Co. J.E. Farber Co. Flint Screw, Products A.C. Spark Plug, Co. Consumers Power Co. Smith Truck Corporation Chevrolet Motor, Co. and Buick Motor Company. More than 70 industrial/manufacturing buildings have been located on the subject property over time. An abbreviated and general list of operations at the property includes automotive parts manufacturing and assembly, machining, engine assembly, aircraft engine manufacturing, production of military equipment, painting, plating, enameling, forge, vehicle testing, on-site heat and power generation, foundries, material storage, rail loading and unloading, and plastics injection molding. Numerous potential points of release were identified on the subject property including sumps, drains, pits, basements, tunnels, bulk storage areas, USTs, ASTs, ponds, and operation areas. According to the 2000 Current Conditions Reports, approximately 327 AOIs had been identified on the subject property for further investigation and evaluation, which consisted of various sumps, pits, trenches, aboveground and belowground tanks, drum storage areas, and other areas.
