Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Portions of the subject property have been developed since at least the late 1800s. Parcel A was developed as early as 1886. A sawmill, paper mill, machine shop and a bleaching area, a small limehouse, seven bleaching tubs and a carpenter shop, three in-ground crude oil tanks all operated on the property. The wastewater treatment plant was constructed in 1968. Single-family residences were on a portion of the parcel since at least the early 1900s and were razed in the 1950s for a paved parking lot. Parcel 1 was utilized to manufacture valves, camshafts, cylinder cases, castings, and some heat treatment. Another plant was used as an oil water separator building and also for drums of waste oil storage. The manufacturing of wagon wheels, gears, and other materials took place from at least 1886 through 1909 when several paint shops, blacksmith shops, machine shops, three in-ground crude oil tanks, an oil house, open coal bins, lumber storage, and warehouses were located on the property. Automobile manufacturing operations began on this parcel in 1909. Structures associated with the Buick Motor Company included: a machine shop, oil house, scrap iron house, and testing/tempering rooms. Operations included: painting, machining, storage, machine presses, coal storage, dry kilns, automobile repair, and general warehousing. The last structures on this parcel were demolished in 2004. Parcel C was developed with single-family residential structures from at least 1886 until they were razed in the 1960s. In 1914 through 1950, a printing shop was identified on the western portion of the parcel. In 1914, the property utilized a sand and coke storage area to the north of the building and several brass crucibles within the building. Known owners of this section: General Motors-Fisher Guide Manufacturing, AC Spark Plug Division, AC Rochester Flint West, Delphi Energy & Engine Managment Systems, and Delphi Automotive Systems, Inc.
